Our family moved to Rome, Italy in March, 2007 due to my Dad’s job. We are now returning as a (slightly larger) family. We all love soccer and coffee. We also enjoy art and seeing churches in Italy. One of our family mottoes is “anything worth doing is worth over-doing” Now – on to the introductions! Dad (Jim) is currently retired from IBM, after 28 years. He works half time as a consultant at Market Source and is also continuing to develope his consulting and speaking business.
Some of his favorite things are espresso (we have a machine), Sagrantino (a wine) and Vittorio Grigolo, an Italian Tenor. But his favorite thing ever is spending time with Mom in Italy.
Mom (Kathy) is a mother and Project Manager to the five kids. She has finished homeschooling three of us and is about to finish with a fourth. She somehow manages the lot of us impeccably. She has taught us everything from Algebra to how to cook and is always good for a laugh.
She enjoys Italian leather goods, coffee, and playing with Pippo.
Anthony is our oldest. He graduated college with a degree in Business and has a job working at Kuehne + Nagel, a logistics company. He is a big fan of the Roma soccer team and loves gelato.
Lesly is one of our later additions. She and Anthony got married in 2013. She graduated college with a degree in history and currently works as an editor.
Pippo (Filippo) is Anthony and Lesly’s son, born in March, 2014. He likes eating and sleeping and his uncles and aunts. He’s a slacker and doesn’t work at all! 😉
Alex is next in line. He graduated college in December, 2012 with a degree in Biology. He works as a Bio-Tech/Pharmaceutical Recruiter. He is a follower of the Juventus soccer team. He is dad’s personal sommelier and enjoys testing and learning about wines. He is big into cars and was with Andrew when they did a little car spotting in London
Andrew is currently in college and is set to graduate with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He enjoys playing soccer and helps coach Gus’s team. He also loves cars and motorcycles and while in London he and Alex car spotted and took over 6,000 photos!
Philly (your writer) is currently about to start her senior year in highschool. She enjoys cooking for the boys, shopping and doing random crafty things. She adores Pippo and steals him as often as possible.
Augustin (Gus) is the youngest of the gang. He is in ninth grade. He loves coin collecting and
has had (yikes!) chickens. He is a gelato monster and loves cinghiale sausages. His favorite pasta dish is amatriciana. He is also an A. S. Roma fan and can get a little bit crazy on game day.
Thank you for stopping by! We look forward to chronicling our travels and sharing a little bit of “our” Italy and lifestyle with you.
All the best,
Philly De Piante
